How to Avoid Mobile Security Breach on Your Smartphones
According to Gartner, more than 2.2 million of smartphones and tablets were sold to end users by 2014. With the numbers increasing by the day, security breach incidents in mobile phones have also increased exponentially. With our dependence on mobile devices growing; be it for transacting, socializing, or capturing our private moments; our devices have more crucial data stored in them than we realize. And this is making our devices even more prone to security threats. Where are all these threats coming from? What can we do to secure our devices?
Below are some of the major reasons that can frequently lead to mobile security breaches-
As per the report by Gartner, 75% of security breaches in mobile devices are the result of misconfigured apps. Most apps fail the basic security test and are therefore the prime reason for bringing in security vulnerabilities into the devices.
Ignorant End Users
Most mobile users are naive and don’t keep up with the latest security requirements on their phones. Cyber criminals easily play with their emotions and access to networks to create havoc.
Lack of Device-level Security
Whether the mobile devices are being used for personal or professional use, the devices should be protected with passwords and screen locks. Also, using robust security software is a good way to protect data from hackers.
Mobile security is still not yet developed, thanks to the ignorance about mobile security breaches. More focus is being given on the development of apps than on improving the mobile apps from the security perspective.
